Glossary

CIR: Committed Information Rate - This is essentially the guaranteed bandwidth on your DSL circuit, implemented by Verizon. Being a Verizon restriction, this is placed on all ADSL circuits run from them. However, our customers have reported receiving about 60%-80% of their upper bandwidth limit on their Verizon DSL circuits.

Kbps: Kilobits per second - The rate at which data travels through a circuit. In comparison, a 56K modem usually sends data (upload) at 33.3Kbps, and receives it (download) at 56Kbps.

Mbps: Megabits per second - x(1000) One-thousand times the speed of 1Kbps; 1Mbps = 1000Kbps
